While we are all here sweating it out in Philly, I thought I would take a moment to write about an amazing wedding we worked on in October 2011. No one ever expects snow on a wedding day, particularly when you are being married the last weekend in October. But snow it did, and it was a sight to be seen.
Nora also had her share of wedding-day disasters to handle, from one bridesmaid going into pre-term labor the night before the wedding (and subsequently delivering a very premie little one) to a monster snow storm dropping almost 8 inches of snow on her Fall wedding to a cancelled trolley the morning of the wedding (fortunately, her sister has friends with a Winnebago who were able to transport the bridal party – true story) . With all said and done, she kept her cool and managed to enjoy the day.
We worked with some uber-talented vendors on this event: Isabel March Photography was behind the camera; Pat Taggert from TAG Visual Media was responsible for the video; Cheryl Ann Floral Design did all of the bouquets and tablescapes; and we (Paper Rock Scissors) designed all of the stationery for the day and also served as day-of coordinator.
Nora got ready at her childhood home in Blue Bell, with her sisters and bridesmaids close to her side. Love the shade of the green dresses they wore!
Saint Cosmas and Damian in Conshohocken was the church were the ceremony took place – the same church where Nora’s grandparents were wed. The front stairs were a smidge icy but it was no stop for this wedding!
The reception was held in the Grand Ballroom at Normandy Farm & Conference Center. The shots of Nora and Matt with their Uggs are such a trademark of this cool, casual couple – even though they were snowed on, the show must go on!
The couple capped off the evening with a sports-themed snack bar – Cracker Jacks, Hot Dogs, Soft Pretzels, Big League Chew, Peanuts, just to name a few – what a unique variation from a standard candy bar!
Nora and Matt were such a pleasure to work with, and they couldn’t have been better sports about their wedding day – like I say, everyone will always remember their anniversary as the October 2011 Blizzard! Hope these photos brought a bit of coldness to the hot day we had today in Philadelphia!
